AIDIA set to host Conference on ‘Revisiting Nepal’s Foreign Policy in Contemporary Global Power Structure’

The event envisions to rationalize the holistic view of the Nepal’s foreign policy and will bring together foreign policy experts from all major political parties, academician, seasoned diplomats, international experts, foreign dignitaries and other scholars to promote Nepal’s national interests via rational-critical discourse.

Kathmandu, March 28, 2017: Asian Institute of Diplomacy and International Affairs (AIDIA), a Kathmandu-based think is set to organize a conference to discuss Nepali foreign policy in the contemporary global power structure.

The conference entitled ‘Revisiting Nepal’s Foreign Policy in Contemporary Global Power Structure’ will focus on revisiting the country’s foreign policy as a necessity to address the reality of contemporary global power structure with substantive and productive discourse. The event is set to have a substantive and productive discourse on the Nepal’s foreign policy. These would include the challenges it faces in the current times and how it can cope with the changing trends particularly in the rise of India and China, broadly in the context of shifting global power structure.

“According to World Bank Doing Business report, Nepal stands in the second position after Bhutan, in ease of doing business ranking in South Asia, with 66.41 DTF (Distance to Frontier) Score. With the fairly amicable environment for investment, there are ample of the area for FDI in Nepal including hydropower, industrial manufacturing, tourism services, construction, agriculture, minerals, and energy. So, there is the pressing need for solid work to promote economic diplomacy of Nepal,” AIDIA official states while discussing the necessity of Nepal’s foreign policy and how the conference would turn out to be beneficial for the nation.

The event intends to bring diverse opinions from the national and international experts in a rational manner and come up with a document which will put forward ideas, prescriptions, and feedback. The document will include the exclusive policy framework to support Nepal’s government to revisit its foreign policy in order to ensure its constructive engagement in the bilateral and multilateral forum, shifting regional and global power structure.

The conference would be held on April 1, 2017, at the Hotel Yak and Yeti, Durbarmarg.
