Kathmandu, April 2, 2017: With an aim to promote Open Source in Nepal, Automation Research Centre (ARC) in collaboration with Edushala and Women Leaders in Technology (WLiT) organized Arduino Day celebration for the first time ever in Nepal.
Arduino Day is celebrated worldwide on April 1 by organizing various events directly by the community, or by the Arduino founders– where people interested in Arduino gather together, share their experiences, and learn more.
Arduino enthusiasts, students, learners, entrepreneurs, and makers among others participated the celebration that took place at Edushala Headquarters, Kupondole. The event briefly covered topics about Arduino, projects on Arduino, Open Source and its resources, in the first segment. In the second segment, the participants who are currently working with Arduino shared their experiences among each other. The last segment was a discussion round, where the attendees discussed on solving locally existing problems with the help of Arduino. The event concluded with a discussion session on the importance of technical innovation in Nepal, the underlying challenges, ways of overcoming them, and how youth can contribute towards the promotion and development of ‘Make in Nepal’ initiative.
All the three organizations: ARC, Edushala, and WLiT also shared their experience of working in the educational field in Nepal. A total of 25 participants had participated the 3-hour-long event.
