Kathmandu, July 6, 2017: Baber Mahal Revisited is all set to organize the first ‘Baber Mahal Revisited Saturday Market’ this weekend. The exhibition seeks to promote the handmade products of Nepal as well as provide a platform for all young entrepreneurs of Kathmandu to showcase their products.
The market is being organized in the Baithak Hall of Baber Mahal Revisited on July 8, Saturday.
Against this backdrop, Glocal Khabar had a correspondence with Varun SJB Rana, Director of Baber Mahal Vilas. Excerpts:
What is your main objective of organizing the ‘Saturday Market’? And, how did you come up with the idea of hosting such an expo?
The main objective of the Saturday Market is to provide a platform for all young entrepreneurs of Kathmandu to showcase their products that are largely manufactured in Nepal. It is very exciting to see some of the talents that are portrayed in the many wonderful products that are being manufactured in Nepal, and we wish to provide a beautiful weekly platform to showcase the same. Baber Mahal Revisited is a beautiful respite from the hustle and bustle of the city, the Baithak Hall provides a great space for exhibition, protected from the elements, and it seems a good venue to have a weekly Saturday market.
What sort of businesses can exhibit their products on the occasion? And, what kinds of products will be exhibited?
We are open to all sorts of handmade products and curios of Nepal. We do not have a specific requirement as such, it is basically a platform for startup businesses with interesting products to showcase their goods.
Is this the very first time you are organizing such type of market? Were similar types of exhibitions held at Baber Mahal premises in the past also?
This is the first Saturday Market being held in Baber Mahal, and we hope to continue with it every week.
Who can visit the expo?
Anyone and everyone is welcome to visit the market and enjoy their Saturday in the wonderful courtyards of Baber Mahal Revisited.
Have you thought of giving continuity to the expo into a weekly/monthly fair?
Yes, depending on the turnout and success of the first market on 8th July 2017, we hope to continue with it every week.
