IT conference held in Butwal with slogan ‘Digital Lumbini: Our Future’

Butwal, February 25, 2017: As part of the ongoing CAN Info-Tech 2017, Federation of Computer Association Nepal, Rupandehi on Friday held an IT Conference with the slogan “Digital Lumbini: Our Future”. As part of the programme, engaging interactions were held on various topics including smart city/village, E-tourism, smart education, cyber security with the role of the individual, government authorities and heading towards a digital society.

Sarbajit Prasad Mahato, Secretary at the ministry of Science and Technology, Government of Nepal graced the ceremony as the Chief Guest. A total of 170 enthusiastic personalities from various walks of life including, representatives from government authorities, institutional bodies IT professionals, media personalities and special delegates.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest Mahato mentioned about different remarkable actions carried out by the government in IT field and also presented about the upcoming plan and policies that the government of Nepal is going to carry out shortly.

Loknath Upadhya, Principal of New Horizon English Boarding School, and one of the special guest for the programme, stated that for the digitalization of Nepal our political leaders also be IT-friendly.

The event also saw paper presentations by a total of 5 key speakers. Engineer Chakravarti Kanth, Project Director at the Department of Urban Development and Building Construction, Government of Nepal presented a paper on Smart City/Village. Similarly, Rom Kant Pandey, Member of ICT Council, Government of Nepal, and Vice-President of CAN Federation; Reg Bahadur Bhandari, Head of Department, ICT Education, Sanothimi Campus; Narayan Bahadur Thapa, General Secretary, Center for IT; and engineer Sanjeev Bhandari, Principal, Sky international College also presented papers on various hard-hitting topics about IT in Nepal. These sessions saw an engaging interaction among the conference participants.

Giving a closing speech, Roshan Pratap Kandel, President of the Federation of CAN, Rupandehi expressed his hope to establish a research center in the district with the support of Science and Technology Ministry of Nepal.
