Khotang,2 Jan 2015: The Eye Treatment Service Centre has been brought into operation at a health post in Halesi of Khotang district with the management of the Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh, Diktel and Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital, Lahan.
Pushpa Shankar Bishwokarma of the Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh said that the centre was brought into operation targeting the locals of more than a dozen VDCs as well as domestic and foreign tourists visiting Halesi temple. Halesi temple is a major Hindu pilgrimage site and therefore known as the ‘Pashupatinath’ of the east.
“According to Sangh, the centre, established for the first time out of the district headquarters, has started providing treatment and distributing medicines and spectacles.
A total of 595 people underwent eye check-up at three-day free eye camp organised by the centre.
Of them, 73 people underwent eye surgery, according to the Sangh.
