Former Prime Minister Surya Bahadur Thapa

Kathmandu, April 16, 2015: Former Prime Minister and senior leader of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), Surya Bahadur Thapa, has passed away at Medanta Hospital in New Delhi, India last night. He was 88.

He had undergone surgery of ulcer at the hospital on last Friday.

Leader Thapa, who had served the country as Prime Minister for five times, was recognized as a veteran politician.
Thapa was born in Muga VDC of Dhankuta district in Chaitra 5, 1984 BS.

According to RPP Assistant Spokesperson Kiran Giri, preparation is underway to bring the dead body of Thapa to Kathmandu for final rites this afternoon.

An emergency meeting of RPP Central Committee is taking place at 9.00 am today regarding the passing away of Thapa, Giri informed.
