Girls Conference begins in Baitadi to reduce child marriage

Baitadi, October 12, 2017: The District Girls’ Conference has begun in district headquarter of Baitadi from Wednesday. It has been organised by Nepal Red Cross Society with the support of United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

The conference will form a District Girls Network, said District Programme Officer of UNFPA, Ganesh Shahi. He said that the network is to be formed to accelerate the children’s campaign of reducing child marriage in the district.

Similarly, discussion will be held regarding initiatives taken so far by girls for reduction of child marriage, gained achievements and challenges and problems related to this.

On the occasion, the girls pointed out security challenge while launching the campaign to reduce child marriage.

Meanwhile, speakers at a programme organised here on Wednesday on the occasion of International Girls’ Day stressed that all bodies concerned should involve to reduce child marriage. They said that families too should join such campaign.

Assistant Chief District Officer, Deepak Kumar Acharya, said that the local administration was committed for child marriage reduction.
