Kathmandu, April 20, 2017: Glocal Teen Hero 2016 finalist Anjal Niraula has been feted with the Best Teenager of the year 2016 award.
Japanese Youth Association (JYA) had recognized Niraula with the honor for his outstanding work on the rebuilding of earthquake-damaged schools in Nepal. After the devastating quake, he had formed a club, Helping Soul, and carried out the reconstruction of schools in Sindhupalchowk that were shattered by the terrible quakes. His efforts have been evident in successfully helping people to make their lives better with education.
The award was presented together by the Japan Youth Association and World Youth Association (WYA).
From among 59 teenagers from various countries, Niraula was selected for the award that was to be conferred amidst a special award gala on January 5 in Osaka, Japan, in presence of a crowd of international dignitaries.
Though being selected for the award, Niraula, then a student of class 10, couldn’t travel to Japan to accept the honor. So, the hosts of the award brought it to Nepal and handed over it to him.
Talking to Glocal Khabar after receiving the honor, Niraula expressed happiness for being recognized in the international arena and expressed further commitment to do better in the days ahead.
Apart from being feted with The Best Teenager Award, Niraula was previously honored as a finalist in the Glocal Teen Hero 2016, along with being recognized as the Face of Change by Coca-Cola in the programme named ‘Feri uthne chha Nepal’ (Nepal will rise again).
