Glocal Teen Hero competition goes to India

Mumbai, September 29, 2017: Glocal Teen Hero is an initiation by Glocal Khabar (a concern of Glocal Pvt. Ltd.) to bring out the teenagers who are doing something from the shadows and create a ripple effect of motivation and impart a message that a lot can be done by anyone and also to appreciate and recognize the teenagers. It is a platform for teenagers to share their initiation, creativity, and enthusiasm which will then motivate them and more of the other teenagers in the nation to develop an entrepreneurial thinking.

Initiated from Nepal in 2015, it is the first ever program designed to recognize dedicated, passionate and innovative teenagers so as to encourage their initiatives. Bipana Sharma, a 17-year old child rights activist from Sunwal VDC in Nawalparasi, Nepal, Shantosh Lamichhane, a young scientist, and Sachin Dangi, social and scientific entrepreneur have already been felicitated with the Glocal Teen Hero title in the three subsequent years 2015, 2016 and 2017. Glocal Teen Hero Nepal has reached out to around 40000 teens with the a collaboration of 26 amazing Partners, ranging from UNDP, European Union, Nepal Tourism Board, Honda, Toyota, Indian Embassy, Cocacola and so on.

This is the first time the competition opened franchise, and India is the first country to host this competition outside Nepal.

Chatur Ideas will be hosting the competition from Mumbai, India. Chatur is one of India’s leading startup enabler platforms for raising funds, receiving mentoring, conducting entrepreneurship programs and succoring execution strategies for startups and entrepreneurs. Mr. Devesh Chawla, CEO, Chatur Ideas is delighted to get Glocal Teen Hero for the teenagers in India and says, this will be an approach to motivate Indian Teens with a Global Recognition.

Elated with the announcement, Asish Thakur, Executive Director, Glocal Pvt. Ltd. shared that Glocal Pvt. Ltd.  is proud to open franchise of the competition to continue and grow the legacy set in Nepal. “We initiated Teen Hero competition just to show that teenagers also have a lot of capacity and are doing significant things that can benefit the nation. While we are making this announcement of going to India, we consider this as one step to make it a global movement,” he added.

The people from the age group of 13 to 19 can apply for the competition. Application for Glocal Teen Hero India is open and can be filled online at mumbai.glocalteenhero.com. The deadline for the submission of application is December 5, 2017.

The applicants in the competition will be judged by a 5-members jury team comprising of Mr. Devesh Chawla, Founder and CEO of Chatur Ideas, Mr. Dewang Neralla, Angel Investor and CEO of Atom Technologies Limited, Mr. Miten Mehta, Co-founder, Spinta Global Accelerator, Ritu Singh Vaidya, Former Miss India and Managing Director at VOITH Nepal, and Umasankar Nistala, Managing Director of a Fortune 100 Global Financial Services.

Top 6 finalists will be shortlisted for the final round of the competition on the basis of initiation and the impact of their work and will be interviewed individually to measure their personality, domain knowledge and vision. It is a platform for Indian Teenagers, Now, aged 13-19 years who are involved, initiators and achievers besides their school/college curriculum.

Award ceremony of the Glocal Teen Hero Mumbai edition will be held on 06 January, 2018 in the presence of recognized personalized from India and Nepal from different walks of life, such as diplomats, politicians, film stars, entrepreneurs, youth leaders and many more.

The fantastic 1, then titled as “Glocal Teen Hero”, will be given a chance to make a small documentary where they will share their inspirational stories and aspiration for future, and will be offered job shadowing and much more opportunities for their growth. The Glocal Teen Hero will also be recognized as one of the Fantastic Teenagers in the Global, with making steps forward to different countries as Franchise, says Ms. Cajol Jha, Project Head of Glocal Teen Hero Global.
