Hike for Nepal programme held in Hong Kong to promote tourism in Nepal

Hong Kong, 25 July, 2016: Hike for Nepal programme was organized in Hong Kong city yesterday for promotion of tourism in Nepal devastated by the earthquakes in April and May 2015.

The theme for the 13 kilometers hike was “Let us move our feet along with Nepal”. The programme started from Central Hong Kong Observation Wheel, located at the heart of the city, at 8 am and ended in the Repulse Bay near the sea.

About 300 people participated in the hike programme including Nepalis, Chinese and other nationals. Donning T-shirts with emblems of “We Will Rise”, these participants hiked around the city.

Nepal’s Consul General Kamal Prasad Bhattarai started the program hoisting Nepal’s flag.

Phurba Tenzing Sherpa, who ascended Mt. Everest, the highest peak in the world at 8,848 meters and Mr. Thaneswor Guragai, who has established 12 Guinness World Record were main attractions of the programme.

“We Will Rise” campaign launched to extend support to the victims of the last year’s earthquakes has been gaining ground all over the world. This campaign holds various promotional programmes and has been getting support and cooperation from all quarters of the world.
