Indian PM Modi Hands Over Chopper To Nepali Army

Kathmandu, Nov 25,2014: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi handed over a multi-purpose chopper to Prime Minister Sushil Koirala for the Nepali Army amid a function here Tuesday.

Modi handed over the helicopter with maximum take off weight of 5,500 kg this evening at a special function organized at Army Pavilion in Tundikhel to Prime Minister and Minister for Defense Koirala.

The government of India provided the helicopter to Nepali Army as part of the assistance exchange between the two nations.

The 14-seater Advanced Light Helicopter (AHL) was indigenously developed and manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, India.

It is said that the helicopter has the capacity of maximum cargo sling of 1,500 kg and can fly even over 20,000 feet.

On the occasion, Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) Gaurav Shumsher JBR were also present.
