Kathmandu,23 Nov 2014: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not be travelling outside Kathmandu in course of his visit to attend the 18th SAARC Summit that Nepal is hosting on 26 and 27 November.

Prime Minister Modi had planned to visit Janakpur, Lumbini and Muktinath, which he had also announced during his last visit to Kathmandu. Accordingly, the government had been making preparations for the visit in all the three locations.

“Due to Prime Minister’s unavoidable domestic commitments and pre-scheduled travels within the country, he will travel only to Kathmandu to attend the SAARC Summit”, said a statement issued by Syed Akbaruddin, the Official Spokesman of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, in response to a question on Prime Minister’s visit to Nepal.

Prime Minister deeply values the special relationship between India and Nepal and will always welcome every occasion to visit Nepal and interact with the leadership and the people of Nepal, reads the statement, adding, “He looks forward to an early opportunity to visit Janakpur, Lumbini, Muktinath and other places in Nepal.”
