Jhamak Ghimire honoured in Jhapa

Jhapa, Febraury 24, 2017: Civil Society—Jhapa, honoured litterateur Jhamak Ghimire amid a programme held in Kankai Campus in Birtamode, on Wednesday. Ghimire was felicitated by former Chief Justice Kalyan Shrestha with a cash purse of Rs 51,000, and certificate of honour.

“I have received love from Jhapa’s residents time and again…I have tried to honour the love I have received. And, this felicitation has further inspired to move ahead with strength,” Ghimire wrote in response to the honour.

Born to a farming family in Dhankuta, the differently-abled 35-year-old Ghimire has already published more than a dozen books including Jeevan Kanda Ki Phool, Sankalpa, Manchhe Bhitraka Yoddaharu (The Warriors within Humans), Quaati, and Be Mausam Ka Aastha Haru; and has to her credit more than five dozen awards for her literary achievements.

She also received the prestigious Madan Puraskar for her autobiography Jeevan Kanda Ki Phool in 2011.
