Khalti becomes the winner of Google’s Business Group Stories contest

Kathmandu, 4 January, 2018: Amit Agarwal, founder of Khalti Digital Wallet, has won this year’s Google’s Global Business Group Stories contest. Agrawal who made it to the final four out of hundreds of worldwide applicants and twenty-four semifinalists has also secured the People’s Choice Award in the competition. The alumnus of International Visitor Leadership Program IVLP of the US Embassy, Agrawal, is working for the betterment of Nepali entrepreneurial ambiance.

Khalti, the winner of this contest, is a digital wallet for instant, secure and hassle-free online payments in Nepal. It facilitates its customers to recharge their mobiles, pay bills, book tickets whenever and wherever they want to.

Cafe Yagam from Philippines, Khalti from Nepal, Riliv from Indonesia and Virtualahan from Philippines were the top four finalists for the competition. These four enterprises stood out among the submissions the contest received from throughout the globe. These winners will get to travel the headquarters of Google Business Group in Mountain View, California for Google I/O in 2018 where they’ll get to meet tech thinkers, innovators, and business leaders.

Google’s Business Group Stories Contest is held each year to provide a platform to entrepreneurs who’ve taken their businesses online. Thousands of members from Google Business Groups (GBG) members had participated in the storytelling competition and shared how the Internet and technology empowered them. This year’s winners were selected from nine global finalists.
