Kathmandu, March 8, 2017: Manchester City Fan Club (MCFC) Nepal, a non-profit and youth-led organization has launched the project named ‘Empowering Through Football’ aiming to provide football training to unprivileged children in different parts of Nepal.

The group recently kicked-started the project from Melamchi village in Sindhupalchowk. A team of 8 people from the organization, along with some football players have been conducting free football training workshops to the vulnerable community in the village. Utilizing the leisure time of the school-going children, they have been conducting the training sessions on Saturdays. Along with providing the training, they are also educating children about health education and sanitation.

The group also recently organized an indoor cricket tournament, and utilized the fund raised from the event to establish library in a Pharping-based school, which was severely affected by the earthquake last year. Added to this, the group has also sponsored 3 children with their studies and all their daily expenses, along with working for the women as well as street children.

Envisioned in 2009, and formally started in 2014, MCFC Nepal was born out of a group of committed youths, who were students themselves and keen to bring change by working for the betterment of society. The foremost focus of the group is to work for the development of unprivileged children and women who are deprived of the basic education and common facility.
