Kathmandu, September 22, 2016: Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has informed that it has managed new tyres for Airbus aeroplanes that take international flights. Civil Aviation Authority had earlier directed the Corporation to manage new tyres.

As Michelin tyres in aeroplanes faced several problems on previous occasions, Ministry of Tourism and Aviation Authority had given oral command to the Corporation to refrain from using those tyres.

Spokesperson of the NAC Ramhari Sharma informed that Corporation had already managed new tyres as per the directive. NAC sold those dysfunctional and faulty tyres to the suppliers and brought in new tyres.

Last week, tyre of an Airbus aeroplane burst while landing in Tribhuvan International Airport. Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda was to board the same plane on his visit to New Delhi and NAC had borrowed wheel assembly from Himalaya Air. As problems occurred in three tryes, NAC borrowed them from Himalaya Air.

NAC sources say that the Corporation is buying 13 new tyres among which four have arrived. The remaining tyres will arrive on Wednesday.

Earlier, NAC used to repair old tyres but this time it has bought 13 new tyres.
