Rolpa, 7th January : General Secretary of the CPN-Maoist Ram Bahadur Thapa ‘Badal’ has said a pro-people constitution was possible only through an all-party political conference.

Speaking at a press meet organized by his party in Rolpa district headquarters, Libang, today, he said his party does not even have one percent hope that the constitution based on identity would be promulgated by the current Constituent Assembly (CA) and stressed on the need of dissolving the CA and giving a way out to the current political impasse through the all-party political conference.

General Secretary Thapa, arrived in Rolpa from where the then CPN (Maoist) started the People’s War to train the party cadres, said, “The differences of opinion among the political parties is resulting in deepening the political deadlock, a sign of big movements in the country, and the CPN-Maoist would lead the movement.”

Speaking on the possibilities of his party’s unity with the Unified CPN (Maoist), the CPN-Maoist General Secretary Thapa said the two parties could have unity only when the UCPN (Maoist) quits its stance on the ‘socialist revolution’.

Referring to the dissociation of a faction led by Netra Bikram Chand from the CPN-Maoist, Thapa said, “Leader Chand has been diverted from the party’s Maoist principle and dissociated from the party; revolution is not possible just raising the arms in emotion, it should be guided by knowledge and political thought.”
