Glocal Khabar, Kathmandu, 24 November 2014, Kathmandu seems to be in a festive season a day prior to the arrival of the Head of Government from the SAARC Nations. The offices, colleges, schools and half of the transportation is brought to halt today onwards, reason behind this halt is to maintain the security and systematic traffic in the valley for assuring the comfort and secure stay of the Delegates from SAARC Nations.
General public of the Valley had and have to suffer. Daily lives has been disturbed due to unease transportation, as either even or odd numbered vehicles are allowed to move in the newly renovated roads of the valley, alternately according to the date on Nepali Calendar during SAARC. A huge mass of public seemed to be walking along the footpaths to reach their destinations. People were found discussing about each other’s vehicle number and possibility of their transportation. A lot of trade, services and mobility has been affected.
   Â
However SAARC has brought a season of infrastructural development. The Roads, buildings, lightings, beautification of the city and other infrastructural development has taken a very high stand in the valley. The city now looks like the capital of the country. Some of the pedestrians were found discussing on the issue which may come up after SAARC, will these development be sustainable? Can the public witness the same infrastructure when the Delegates return back. If so, we are in a very good path to get uplifted to a developing country.
