Shilpee Theatre to organize Children’s Theatre Festival

Kathmandu, January 24, 2018: ‘Children’s Theatre Festival’ is set to be inaugurated on February 23, 2018, in Shilpee Theatre, Kathmandu. This four-day festival is drawing the participation of almost 300 school students.

Nayaraj Budathoki, the Chairman of Shilpee Theatre shared that 35 scripts were submitted for the ninth iteration of the Children’s Theatre Festival, out of which thirteen have been selected. The line-up of plays for this year’s festival includes plays such as ‘Tulshi’ by Aakashgana International Academy; ‘Mohan Maina’ by Chelsea International Academy, and ‘Jhyauli’ by Creative School. A jury committee will award the competitors in six different categories such as Best Actor, Best Play, Best Direction, and the Audience Choice Award after the performance of 13 plays.

The festival will also feature a beam of events such as games, storytelling sessions, conversations with celebrities, and magic shows. As many as 500 students will be involved in various events.

Aryan Neupane, the program director of the festival informed that even though this will basically be a theatre festival, there will be a lot of chances for students to show up their talent.

Rohani Bhattarai, a member of the festival’s organizing committee told that the festival this year will be of better quality than that of previous years due to increase in budget. In a press release statement, Bhattarai shared that this festival will be concluded by awarding 10 students encouraging them to further pursue their craft.
