Lalitpur, February 5, 2018: Society of Mechanical Engineering Students(SOMES) has successfully concluded the eighth annual National Mechanical Engineering Exhibition (MechTRIX8.0) on February 4, 2018 at Department of Mechanical Engineering, Pulchowk Campus.

This three-day exhibition included series of events such as drone competition, robo-ball, go-cart Racing, automobile display section, aeronautical model design, +2 mechanical design competition and BE design competition.

On the third day of the exhibition, Breast Cancer Awareness Program was also conducted in association with BlueCross Hospital. Renowned oncologist Dr.Aarati Shah led the session where free check-up stall was set aside to promote World Cancer Day. The session included cancer screening, self-screening training, question and answer with the medical team.

The participants in the exhibition were from different engineering colleges of Nepal. Plus two level science students and A-level students from different colleges of Kathmandu also displayed their innovative mechanical projects.

The event was a great platform for Nepalese students studying at different levels to showcase their application of remarkable innovation of theoretical knowledge. The visitors and students studying at different levels got the opportunity to interact with concerned professionals and share their ideas and views.

According to the organizing team the main motive of SOMES for organizing the exhibition was to encourage the aspiring students to showcase their potentiality through their ideas and innovations and also to enhance their capacity in the respective field. Purak Adhikari, one of the organizing members of the MechTRIX8.0 mentioned,” The exhibition helps in bridging the gap between students and investors so that they can continue their project in a larger platform.”

Trinity International College bagged the cash prize of 20 thousand in robo-ball competition, a football competition of robots. Likewise, Islington college secured first position in Kurukshetra: Battle of Drones. Under high school design competition, Xavier International College came in the first place whereas Institute of Engineering(IOE) Pulchowk won the undergraduate design competition. IOE, Thapathali bagged the title of People’s Choice Award.

IOE has been organizing National Mechanical Engineering Exhibition since 2007 under the initiation of SOMES. SOMES is a students’ society established in 2007 through the efforts of Mechanical Engineering students studying at IOE.
