December 5, 2017: Mahadan, a street play with the aim of creating awareness among the voters about the right way of casting the vote, has been staged across 45 districts of Nepal, prior to the second- phase of Provincial and Federal elections on Thursday.

As many as 22 theatre groups are involved staging the play in community spaces where large numbers of people congregate to learn through a different approach. The initiation was taken by Rastriya Nachghar, in coordination with the Biratnagar-based theatre group Aarohan Gurukul, with the aim of assisting the election commission’s Voter-Education campaign.

The script was originally written in Nepali but it was translated into Maithili and Bhojpuri when staged in the districts across the Terai. All the theatre groups concluded their programs yesterday as the silence period for the election begins.
