Kathmandu, November 30, 2017: On Saturday, November 25, Team SBC walked away with the championship trophy in the fourth Annual WE United Women’s Futsal Tournament, organized at the Grassroots Recreational Center, Kathmandu.

The annual tournament was launched four years ago by The WE United Project, a women-led initiative for women’s empowerment in sport, to provide a safe space of this nature for women and girls to challenge themselves, build relationships, and cultivate competitiveness. Over 90 female athletes participated in a total of 10 teams in this year’s tournament, that was refereed by nationally-certified women.

The winner athletes were awarded prizes in a number of categories including sportswomanship, which encouraged fair play, teamwork, and good communication.  All participants aspired toward this prize filling the day with positive energy.

The WE United Project’s mission is based on the theory that women’s empowerment through sport is most effective. The project seeks to empower women and girls in Nepal by creating safe spaces to impart leadership training, life skills development, and team building through dynamic sport-based activities.
