US Embassy to organize a concert program ‘Youth Voice for the Future’

Kathmandu, January 25, 2018: US Embassy is organizing the musical event ‘Youth Voice for the Future: Musical Program 2018’ in Nepalgunj and Kathmandu on January 26 and 27, 2018 respectively. The program will feature American hip-hop artist Aisha Fukushima and the bands. Similarly, Nepali artists Deepak Bajracharya, Laure, Sugam Pokhrel, Pramod Kharel and the team members of Cartoon Crew and Nepal Hip-Hop Foundation will be sharing the stage.

The program helps to connect the youth through the mean of Hip-Hop music. In a press meet held in Kathmandu, Laure, Nepali rapper, shared that the Hip-Hop music has helped the nations build up cultural ties with each other. He added, “Hip-Hop came to Nepal as a piece of American clothes and now we are knitting it to a Nepali Daura Suruwal and spreading it to the world.”

Jenisha Maharjan, Founder of Nepal Hip-Hop Foundation took her chance to acknowledge the contribution of Aisha Fukushima in promoting Hip-Hop culture in Nepal. For Aisha, the American Hip-Hop culture is mean to break the oppression through expression. She traveled to Nepal in 2016 and performed amidst the Nepali crowd. She has also conducted various workshops in different schools in Nepal and has opened the door of possibilities for Nepali artists to collaborate with various Nepali singers and dancers. She has been following Nepali music and had even performed a song in the previous event.

Speaking about the program, Deepak Bajracharya, folk-rock singer, shared, “Though I don’t come from this genre, the fact that we are performing together with same sound systems and for the same crowd has excited me. I am looking forward to the event on Saturday.”

Book Bus, Book Tuk and other stalls will also be set up in the concert premises by US Embassy Youth Council.
