Women Entrepreneur International Trade and Technology Hub: Building an opportunity for South Asian Women

Kathmandu, January 21, 2018: South Asian Women Development Forum (SAWDF) and Asian Association of Women Entrepreneurs has declared the establishment of ‘Women Entrepreneur International Trade and Technology Hub’ on January 16 at Visakhapatnam, India. This declaration was made during the International Conference on ‘Women Entrepreneurs on Innovation, Incubation and Industrialization’.

Signing the memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Amarnath Reddy, Minister for Industries and Commerce Department of Andhra Pradesh and Association of Women Entrepreneurs of India, SAWDF aims to boost women’s participation in trade through trade information, capacity building, product marketing and regional sharing of good practices.

Pramila Acharya Rijal, President of SAWDF, mentioned that the trade center will create new business opportunities for women entrepreneurs in local, national, regional and international markets. Additionally, she shared that this hub will privilege women’s participation in trade and mutual trade opportunities regionally and globally.

Amjad Hussain B Sial, SAARC Secretary General, underscored the belief of regional connectivity and women issues as a priority in SAARC.

Rama Devi, president of the Association for Women Entrepreneurs of India, stated that the trade hub will convene women entrepreneurs from various regions in a common platform to help them showcase their products, exchange skills, training and new technologies.

Chandra Babu Naidu, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, expressed his contentment of women entrepreneurship at the regional level. The government of Andra Pradesh under his leadership has allocated five acres of land for the establishment of the Hub.
