Kathmandu, 27 December, 2017: In order to gain the ambition of poverty alleviation by creating employment opportunities and launching employment-generating industries focusing on the youths, The Industry Ministry and National Youth Council have signed an agreement.

Pradeep Kumar Koirala, Joint-Secretary at the Industry Promotion Division and Madhav Prasad Dhungel, Vice-Chairperson of Nepal Youth Council signed the agreement in presence of Industry Minister Sunil Bahadur Thapa, State Minister Resham Bahadur Lama and Industry Secretary Yam Kumari Khatiwada.

This agreement has planned to promote the youth participation in socio-economic alteration of the nation. Through the path of agriculture, forest, tourism and service-oriented industries, destitute and unemployed youths will be provided with opportunities to transform themselves and the entrepreneurial state of Nepal. Similarly, interest- free loans will be provided in order to facilitate the youths to buy required materials as well as technology necessary for youth entrepreneurship program and development.

Sunil Bahadur Thapa mentioned that this accord will prove to be conducive for the implementation of youth target programs of the government and access to the government will be easy for the youths. State Minister Lama said, “The country cannot gain prosperity without youth human resource. So, a concrete outcome will be achieved after this agreement.”

The Ministry accentuated that the skill development training and technology will be directly handed over to the local level through Council by selecting youth entrepreneurs to bring into action ‘Ten Youths, One Enterprise at Each Ward of One Constituency Program’ as per Enterprise Development Program Guideline-2073 BS.

Brain drainage is Nepal’s biggest problem and the number of youths going overseas for employment opportunities are increasing throughout the years. This agreement believes within the next ten years this trend will minimize by creating employment in the country itself.

After this agreement, the Ministry will be announcing capacity development training and the Council will be conducting programs targeting youths in all districts through District Youth Committee.
