Kathmandu, June 7, 2017: As the weeks go by, the girls at the EmpowHER are getting a clearer picture of what they wanted to do for their project.
The fifth session of empowHER on June 3 started with an experience sharing from last year’s cohort member Yashaswi Surana who was also one of the winners of the seed money grant. She shared about her time in empowHER, the bond she created with the other participants and also how she is currently leading her project. She emphasized how every session taught at the programme were different and how important they were. “This helped me both in my personal and professional life,” she shared on the occasion. All the empowHER cohorts and Ujyalo Foundation (the host of empowHER) team were delighted listening her experiences, and progress of her project on creating women friendly restrooms at public spaces in Kathmandu valley.
The session then proceeded towards the first pitching of their respective projects by each of the empowHER cohorts. Everyone had to pitch their ideas in under a minute. Amuda Mishra, the facilitator of the session gave tips on what to do and what not to do for the next pitching. She also reviewed the sample survey questionnaires the girls had brought forward.
After everyone’s pitching was over, the girls were given a task to come up with a tentative plan to create a fund-raising event. The girls then sat for lunch to discuss the different ideas which also became a bonding time.
The next session in the afternoon was delivered by Ms. Deepa Shakya on Project Management. This productive session gave the girls an idea of Problem Tree, Objective Tree, Gantt Chart, and Logical Frame among various other topics.

The session finally ended with a reflection of the whole day.
