Bhaktapur, Sept 16:Financial crunch has hit some 46 festivals associated with Bhairavnath in the district. The cultural and histical festivals are on the verge of crisis after the guthisansthan (a government body for managing cultural festivals) failed to provide support to organise the festivals.

Different 46 festivals and rituals of the Bhairavnath of Taumadhi to be run with the financial support of the guthisansthan are in crisis.

The Bisket festival, Ghantakarna, Gaijatra, Indrajatra, Mupatrajatra, Pulukisi festival and other dashain-associated festivals are the major rites in the district. The festivals are in a crisis due to lack of adequate manpower, managers and priests, it is learnt.

The main Naike Gyan Bahdaur Chhunka has already resigned from the post due to financial crisis and other five naikes are in dilemma, said Laxmibhakta Ghemosu.

Naike is the person who coordinates and oversees the organization and management of these cultural festivals.
