  Fire burns down nine houses in Ranke Bazaar

Ilam, 5 Nov 2014: A fire caused by a short circuit at a local’s house in Ranke Bazaar burnt down nine houses by the time it was doused.

The fire that started from 8:00 am was put out after three hours by a team of Armed Police Force, Nepal Police, Nepal Army and the locals. It damaged properties worth Rs 50 million as per the police’s preliminary assessment.

According to Deepak Pokharel, the Deputy Superintendent of Police in Panchthar, due to a fire, transportation to and from Ilam, Yektapp, Amchowk, Phakphok, Chamaita, Yasok ad Rabi along the Mechi highway was disturbed, causing inconvenience to hundreds of passengers.

As the fire has been extinguished, Nepal Police and Nepal Red Cross Society are collecting the details of the damage.

The victims, whose houses have been burnt to ashes, will be provided the relief packages and rehabilitated, informed police.
