Five villages In Myadgi Are At risk To Be Swept By Landslides

Beni (Myagdi), June 18: Five villages in Myagdi is in possibility to be swept away by the landslides from the hills. After hills in the neighborhood suffered cracks in the recent earthquake and subsequent aftershocks.

Soil conservation officer at District Soil Conservation Office, Myagdi Diwakar Poudel said that Some 210 houses in the village can fall under a landslide at any time. Bagarphat of Beni municipality-4 and Torakhet, Surkemela, Rayakhor and Dagnam of Jhamkimli VDC are at high risk.

The office has also recommended shifting the villagers as soon as possible and recently had carried out an assessment of the area. Bhim Bahadur Karki of Bagarphat said that since past six years the locals however leave their homes every year after the start of the rainy season but the recent earthquake has made it more severe.
