Five women feted under ‘President Women Empowerment Program’

Jumla, July 24, 2017: Five women have been feted for their outstanding performance during the three-month mobile repair as well as sewing training conducted in Jumla under the President Woman Empowerment Program.

The outstanding women were honored amidst a program organized by District Women and Children’s Office, Jumla.

The awardees, who showed excellence in the repair of mobile phones and sewing training, are Asta Bhandari, Rajyadevi Budha, Nima Putin Lama, Sarita Bharati, and Rita Rokaya.

Acting Chief District Officer Tek Bahadur Budhathapa handed over them with 3 thousand cash prize and certificates each.

The Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare had launched the President Woman Empowerment Programme from March 6.

The program aims to provide skills to women for income generation and link them to productivity, market and employment schemes.

The program seeks to eliminate violence against women (VAW) by empowering the women on the economic front.

The program is expected to generate employment for around 4,000 women annually. As many as 20,000 women would benefit from the programme in five years.
