FLOOD DAMAGED 20 IRRIGATION PROJECTS IN DANG

Tulsipur, Sept 3: Nonstop rainfall-triggered flood in Dang during August damaged over 20 irrigation projects in the district. The Thati Irrigation Canal based in Belbhar of Ghorahai-4, the Laraina Irrigation Project at Dikurpur VDC, the Doghare Irrigation Project and Bhatte Irrigation Project in Tulsipur-10 are among the projects witnessing damages in the natural disasters.

Damages to the irrigation projects caused loss of over Rs 26.5 million, according to the Mid-west Irrigation Division Office, Tulsipur. Office Engineer Aaditya Narayan Gautam said the reconstruction of the damaged physical infrastructure is estimated to cost over Rs 35 million. Rice production in the district is likely to go down this year because of the damage of the flood.
