FNJ probe team starts study into journalist attack case

Ratnanagar,28 Nov 2014: An investigation team formed by the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) to study into the incident of attack on a journalist Narayan Adhikari has started its work from today in Chitwan district. Adhikari is a correspondent of Rastriya Samachar Samiti.

The five-member team under the coordination of senior Vice-President of FNJ, Khil Bahadur Bhandari, started discussions with the Chitwan District Administration Office and police.

The team enquired about the progress achieved so far regarding the incident with Chief District Officer Dr Man Bahadur BK and Superintendent of Police Sahakul Bahadur Thapa. It also met the injured journalist Adhikari.

The team comprises FNJ Central Zone Coordinator Sheetal Mahato, Joint Coordinator Chiranjivi Maskey, FNJ Chitwan chapter President Hari Prasad Pokhrel and Press Council Nepal Member Kishor Shrestha.

The FNJ, Chitwan, has been launching a phase-wise agitation programmes for the past one week, citing police failed to arrest the accused even after 10 days past the incident.

According to the team, it would discuss with media persons in the district this afternoon.

 

Adhikari was attacked with a sharp weapon on November 20 while he was on the way to home.
