Parasi (Nawalparasi), 20 March, 2015Â : Number of foreign tourists is increasing in Ramgram Stupa, which is important for both Hindus and Buddhists. The Stupa is about nine kilometres far from the Mahendra highway near Ramgram in the district.
It contains one of the relics of Lord Buddha. It is taken as one of the eight shrines where Lord Buddha’s relics are placed. Ramgram is the maternal home of Lord Buddha’s mother.
Mainly, the Buddhist tourists from Thailand visit the place. Over 500 foreign tourists monthly visit the site but they are facing different problems there and are forced to return on the very first day of their visit due to poor management of the Stupa.
In this connection, a group of 135 Thai Buddhist pilgrims has arrived here recently. The group arrived from Bodhgaya, India has started its journey from Ramgram Stupa to Lumbini, the birth place of Lord Buddha as part of its tour of visiting all the eight shrines where the Buddha’s relics are kept.
