Lalitpur: An interactive workshop on “Foreign study and its impact on Nepalese student” was held at the conference Hall of Dibyabhumi Multiple College, kupondole, Lalitpur on 3rd August, 2019 from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Along with the students of DMC and +2 graduates, there were total 26 participants in the workshop.
With prerequisite guidance and support by the founder of the college, Mr. Pramod Shah and Department Head of Journalism, Ms. Trishna Acharya, the students of DMC, bachelor 1st year conducted a successful workshop. Hosted by the students of DMC, the college had invited five guests who were proficient in the related sectors. They were Ms. Anjali Shakya, MSW graduate student from University of Lapland, Finland, Mr. Manohari Upadhaya, director of ANHS, Nepal, Mr. Binod Poudel, PhD Scholar, Mr. Neeraj Singhal, country coordinator of Senior Expert Corps Nepal and Ms. Shushila Shrestha, operation manager at Glocal PVT. Ltd.
The workshop started at 3:30 pm with a presentation by BSW 1st year student Mr. Saugat Rajbhandari and welcome speech by Mr. Pramod Shah. Along with it, the guest presented their views and shared their experience studying in foreign and native country. Ms. Shakya presented a slide where she talked about the challenges like culture adaptation, language, study, job, homesickness etc. that she had been through in Finland. A person needs to be mentally prepared to overcome through all the obstacles while in aboard. Mr. Upadhaya believed in studying in own country with its environment. He talked about the nature of mind and made the participants and other guests think for a second about their nature of mind. Mr. Poudel and Mr. Singhal discussed about today’s generation problem where going aboard had been fancy things. They said- ‘A person required to develop full skill to be able to work in other’s country and should consult with family. They shared their experience of studying in Japan and USA. Ms. Shrestha concluded the overall speech from the guest. She said- ‘Many people today complained about the education system of the country but I had never thought of studying aboard as it depends upon the person rather the university’.
Hence, the workshop concluded with a concluding remark by Ms. Trishna Acharya where various question were raised by the students for the guest regarding the study and lifestyle in foreign country. Therefore, the guest wants every citizen to utilize their skill and knowledge to develop their own country. Wherever a student study, they should come back in their own place, own hometown. Therefore, the program ended with refreshment at the college along with a fun game which was enjoyed by the entire participant.
