Free Cancer Awareness and Screening Camp held in Bhairahawa

Bhairahawa, February 5, 2017: On 28 and 29 January, Nepal Cancer Support Group in association with Rotary Club of Bhairahawa and Nepal Cancer Hospital & Research Center, Harisiddhi, Lalitpur, jointly organized Free Cancer Awareness and Cancer Screening Programmes in Bhairahawa.

The programmes were held as part of the observance of World Cancer Day 2017.

On the occasion, Dilip Bhattarai, vice-president of Nepalese Students’ Club Advisory Board and the Programme Director gave a special presentation on General Information About Cancer. Similarly, senior consultant Oncologists Dr. Sudip Shrestha, Dr. Gisup Prasiko, Dr. Anju Shrestha and Dr. Bijesh Raj Ghimire made presentations about various types of Cancer.

Similarly, a screening camp was also held on the occasion. A total of 1216 individuals were screened in the camp, and Pap Smear samples were done in more than 600 people and a CBC blood test was conducted in 200 individuals. Three new cases of Cancer were detected, and six old cases were attended by Dr. Sudip Shrestha.

It was a historical health camp of its kind in the region, held for the first time ever, said the organizers.
