Kathmandu,1 Feb 2015: Prajatantra Senani Sangh which has been pitching for the rights and welfare of the people who fought for freedom and democracy in the country is set to felicitate freedom fighters.
The Sangh has decided to honour around 100 freedom fighters aged over 75 years on the occasion of Democracy Day (February 19) in recognition of their contribution towards establishing democracy in the country, said its President Tanka Prasad Kandel.
The felicitation programme will take place at Nepali Congress, Central Party Office, BP Memorial Building at Sanepa. Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala will be the chief guest of the event.
“We are going to honour freedom fighters who waged struggle for establishing and restoring democracy since 2007 BS through 2017 BS this year. It will be undertaken every year based on the inventory of freedom fighters maintained by the Sangh”, informed Sangh’s Central Member Tilak Prasad Sapkota.
A delegation of Association including its President Kandel, general secretary Mitra Bahadur Karki and central member Sapkota on Saturday called on Prime Minister Koirala to keep abreast the progress in felicitating freedom fighters.
The Senani Sangh is a sister organization of ruling Nepali Congress.
