Friendly Matches Needed To Strengthen Nepal’s Cricket

Kathmandu, Oct 31,2014: The government is planning to organize Twenty-20 Cricket match in Nepal and conduct Nepal’s friendly matches with Pakistan, Sri Lanka and other countries to further improve Nepal’s standard of cricket.

At a programme here today, Minister for Youth and Sports Purushottam Poudel said the government was effortful to win one-day status for Nepal’s team.

Minister Poudel said that final preparations were on to hold a friendly cricket match between the national teams of Bangladesh and Nepal.

He also said that the government was working to build the international-level cricket pitch at Mulpani, Cricket Ground in TU premises and in Pokhara.

Minister Poudel said the dispute on land plot in Mulpani would be resolved very soon.

He also accused the lack of management and poor leadership capacity of Cricket of Association Nepal for lack of cricket development in Nepal.

Minister Poudel said the government was ready to provide assistance to cricketers for making history in the country’s cricket journey. He shared that a proposal on the same would be taken before the council of ministers.
