GAA set to host national dance competition, registration process begins

Kathmandu, January 15, 2017: Godavari Alumni Association(GAA) in collaboration with the Nepal HipHop Foundation is all set to organize a national level dance competition in Nepal.

Titled GAA All About Dance, the competition seeks to promote dance culture among the youths in Nepal and bring forth and recognize local Nepalese talents along with creating an atmosphere of co-operation among the dancers in Nepal.

The competition will bring together dance teams from across the country showcasing different dance cultures through their vibrant and energetic dances.

GAA is an association of alumni of St. Xavier’s School, Godavari, established to promote youth-oriented activities in the various socio-economic and educational fields along with to work with the underprivileged sector of Nepalese society.

“GAA’s main objective is to empower youths, and with this dance competition, we hope to empower them by bringing forth their creativity and building confidence in their dance abilities. Through this competition, we also seek to set a new standard of dance in the valley,” shared Rashmita Manandhar, Administrative Officer of GAA.

The competition will be held in a single category, including both single and group (not exceeding 10). And, only the participants from the age group 16-25 years are eligible for the competition. Interested participants can formally register for the competition by submitting video files of their dance performance.

Registration process for the competition has already started, and can be done paying a fee of Rs. 100. However, there is a further registration fee of Rs. 2500 for the 16 performances that will be selected after the registration. And, these 16 videos will be published in GAA’s YouTube Channel.

The grand finale of the competition will be held on 11th of March, and will feature musical and dance performances, demonstrating the very best of dance performing arts.

The winner of the competition will be rewarded with a cash prize of Rs 50,000. The first runner-up will bag Rs. 30,000 while the second runner-up will receive Rs. 15000.
