August 8, 2016: The youngest athlete in the 2016 Rio Olympics, Gaurika Singh has expressed concerns for being called an Indian. An Indian news-site had posted a news on her saying her to be an Indian.
She expressed concerns through a Facebook post, writing “Please let them correct…..I am a Nepali…not Indian.

The website Olympics Updates had published an article with the headline ‘RIO Olympics 2016: Gaurika Singh 13-year-old Youngest Swimmer India’.
Facebook users numbering in the thousands have liked and shared the Facebook post and hundreds have commented on the post with anti-Indian sentiments.
