Banepa, June 26, 2015: The five VDCs in the earthquake-hit Kavre district should be shifted to safer locations, suggested by the Geologists.
The settlements should be shifted from the existing locations as disasters loom large in the areas, the experts based on the geological studies of the VDCs told the lawmakers of the district, chief district officer and local-level politicians.
The experts made such recommendation after the field studies in Boldephediche, Chyamrengbesni, Nagregargache, Pokharinarayastha and Pokharichauri VDCs, Local Development Officer Chiranjibi Timsina said.
Similarly, Chief District Officer of Kavre Sudarshan Dhakal also said that the mentioned VDCs of kavre were at risk of disaster, so some people have left the places while some others are shifted to safer locations. He added that stock have been kept to distribute to the needy and temporary shelters would be managed for the locals and foodstuffs and tarpaulins.
Likewise, Lawmakers of the concerned constituencies were the coordinator of the study team conducted with participation of the Ministry of Science and Technology and Department of Mines and Geology.
