Lamjung, June 2, 2016:Â Two girls from Khatrichaur of Besisahar Municipality-1, Lamjung registered a case at the Truth and Reconciliation Commission through the local peace committee seeking action against the people behind their fatherâ€™s death.
Nisha Pariyar,15 and Manisha,13 had reached the office of the local peace committee in school uniform and filed the case seeking action against the people responsible for taking the life of their father Gopal Pariyar.
Twenty-seven-year-old Gopal was killed in an electric ambush planted by the then Maoist insurgents on October 2, 2003. He was working at mid-Marsyangdi Hydro Project. Nisha and Manisha are studying at Grade X and Grade VIII of Bidhya Bikash Higher Secondary in Besisahar.
The peace committee secretary Kiran Lamichhane said that the girls had registered the case with assistance from rights activist Krishna Prasad Adhikary. They have their octogenarian grandfather alone at home after their mother went missing four years ago.
Nisha was two and Manisha was six months old when their father was ambushed to death. Adarsha Women and Child Development Centre in Besisahar has been providing shelter to the two sisters. The centre has been managing the expenses for lodging, food and studies for the conflict victim girls.
Nisha said that they had filed a case against the culprits as they had heard their father was killed in the ambush planted by the then Maoist combatants. She expressed hope that the guilty would be booked and relief would be provided to them.
Peace committee Secretary Lamichhane said that conflict victims had got Rs 3 lakh of the five lakh pledged by the government. Lamichane said that Gopalâ€™s father Sete had collected Rs 3 lakh.
Secretary Lamichhane said that the two girls had not received two lakh and 60,000 rupees to be provided to conflict-victim children yearly.
He pledged to assist the children in providing the relief amount to them.
