Kathmandu, April 9, 2018: Government currently enrolled in a campaign for distribution of textbooks and increasing literacy rate, as stated Giriraj Mani Pokharel, Minister of Education, Science and Technology.
According to Minister Pokharel, as there was no authority at the local levels to manage and regulate the education field the ministry has delayed disunion of district education offices by three months.
Minister Pokharel also said that he requested the provincial governments to focus on the formulation of education policy so as to reduce confusion regarding jurisdiction of the local levels and provinces.
Sudarsan Baral Province 5 Minister for Social Development recommends that the central government to hand over universities to the provincial governments providing funding to madrasas as there was no policy regarding fulfilment of vacant post of teachers.
Similarly, Dal Rawat, Minister for Social Development of Karnali Province said that if the investment were made in such sectors, the province would have raised as one of the richest in terms of revenue generation as their province can generate more revenue from hydropower, tourism and production of than any other province.
To sum up, the provincial government should be given the power to appoint the teacher as well as open new school, said Nardevi Pun, Minister for Social Development of Province 4.
