Kathmandu, Nov 1: Today’s meeting of the High-Level Political Coordination Committee has decided to present itself with flexibility in the talks to be held with agitating United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF).
The UDMF has been launching agitation expressing dissatisfaction over the new constitution.
After the meeting, senior leader of the CPN (UML), Jhalanath Khanal, said that the government would present itself with flexibility in the talks, but it would not compromise over the issue of nationality.
The HLPCC, which comprises top leaders of the ruling coalition, has given necessary authority to Coordinator of government talks team and Deputy Prime Minister Kamal Thapa. The two sides are to sit for a dialogue at 4:00 pm today.
Similarly, Vice-Chairman of the UCPN (Maoist), Narayankaji Shrestha, said that the government was ready to address the demands of UDMF with maximum flexibility. He added that the five-point demand of the UDMF was likely to be addressed.
The meeting had taken place in presence of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and HLPCC Coordinator and Chairman of the UCPN (Maoist) Pushpa Kamal Dahal at the official residence of the Prime Minister at Baluwatar.
