Kathmandu, Sept 30: Minister for Finance Dr Ram Sharan Mahat has said that the government would adopt a reconstruction policy soon.

At an interaction organised here today for the study and reconstruction of the quake-hit Nuwakot district, Finance Minister Mahat pointed out the need of cooperation from all bodies in reconstruction task.

He said, “It is necessary to build new houses as per the design of the Department of the Building Construction.”

Similarly, Nepali Congress central committee member Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat said that it was necessary to utilize maximum means and resources as there was sufficient amount of means and resources for the same in the country.

He also pointed out that all should involve in new construction along with reconstruction after the earthquake and clarified that it was necessary to build a model settlement in every villages in course of reconstruction task.

Likewise, Chief at the National Seismological Centre, Lok Bijay Adhikari, urged all to involve in reconstruction task keeping in mind that Nepal is at high-risk of earthquake in mind.

Lawmakers—Ram Hari Khatiwada, Ram Maya Bogati, Bhimsendas Pradhan, Som Bahadur Gurung, Puskar Ojha, Parbat Gurung, Tadhika Tamang, among others said that special attention should be given as geographical condition of every area not similar.

A total of 1,109 people lost their lives in Gorkha earthquake as 1,050 were injured. Out of 75,562 houses, 67 per cent houses suffered complete damages while 20 per cent houses were damaged partially.

The District Natural Disaster relief and Rescue Committee, Nuwakot, Hamro Bikas Prabardhan Kosh, Battar, Nuwakot, among others has carried out the study about the loss caused by quake and regarding the reconstruction.
