Grade XII examinations beginning today

Kathmandu, May 02, 2016: The Grade XII examinations is beginning from today. A total of 369,426 students are appearing in the exams from 921 examination centres across the country.

Santosh Aryal, examination controller, Higher Secondary Education Board, today said Manang district had the least number of examinees appearing in the exams with 200 students, while Kathmandu is expected to see the highest 114,322 examinees.

A total of 921 examination centres have been designated across the country.

He said a total of 33,953 staffers, including 921 exam superintendents, 2,512 assistant superintendents, 1,921 observers, 13,430 invigilators, 2,476 office assistants and 11,052 security personnel will be deployed for the exams.

He further said that the HSEB has formed three different types of monitoring teams under the leadership of joint-secretaries from Ministry of Education, HSEB and Examination Conduction Committee.

“There will be four teams led by joint secretaries from MoE and five teams led by joint secretaries and division chief from HSEB and another team from Examination Conduction Committee. They have formed sub-teams to monitor exams across the country,” said Aryal.

He said the teams will not only inspect the exams, but also the general situation of higher secondary schools hosting the exams. “The teams led by joint-secretaries and division chiefs will monitor 699 schools,” he said.

In case of mass cheating in any exam centre, District Examination Coordination Committee chaired by chief district officer in coordination with the team led by joint-secretaries could recommend the Examination Conduction Committee to cancel the exams and scrap the examination centre, he said.

HSEB also announced a toll-free audio notice board ‘1618016639002’ to inform all concerned about information related to the exams.
