“Hallo Jotne Sathi”- Singer Dharmaraj Thapa is no more


Kathmandu, Oct 14. Singer Dharmaraj Thapa, unwell from a long time, passed away today at his home, Swoymbhu, Kathmandu at the age of 99.

His body is to be kept at Academy hall for Obituary. The renowned Singer of his famous songs, “Hariyo Dada Mathi Halo Jotne Sathi”, “Aaja Madal bajeko kina”, “Prajatantra ko Kaphal” and many more was an established singer as “The Singer for Commoners”, because of the Villagers style of singing, lyrics using Nepali Proverbs.

He was born on 1989 B.S. at Pokhara. He was bestowed with the award of “Janakabi Keshari” by the then King Mahendra on 2013 B.S. He has worked for many political campaign, revolution for the betterment of Nepali Society. He is the person to bring the lights on “Sarangi” a renowned musical instrument.
