Babiyachaur (Myagdi), Aug. 4: Public health service has been affected owing to lack of technical human resource in health facilities in Myagdi district.

The service recipients of far-flung rural areas are facing tough time when various technical posts in district hospital including that of health assistant, senior assistant and assistant health workers have remained vacant.

Only 146 out of total allotted postings of 193 health workers with different capacities in Myagdi – having one hospital, one primary health centre, 16 health posts and 23 sub-health posts – are delivering service, said the District Health Office.

Ram Chandra Regmi, non-gazetted first class officer at the District Health Office, said the postings of 47 health workers including 18 assistant health workers and 17 senior assistant health workers are lying vacant in the district due to delay in amendment to Health Service Act and selection of health technicians on part of the Public Service Commission.

He further said the District Hospital Beni has vacant positions for one family planning assistant, one lab technician and one radiographer.

It has been difficult for existing limited health workers to deliver public health services due to work load for no availability of human resource as per the vacant posts, said Chief Doctor at the District Health Office, Roshan Neupane.
