Health of teachers on hunger-strike has deteriorated


Gaushala, 20 October 2014: Health condition of two PCF teachers, who are on a hunger strike in front of the District Education Office, Mahottari, for the past six days, has deteriorated.

The health condition of the PCF Teacher of Bairiya Secondary School and Mahottari chair of Nepal PCF Teachers’ Struggle Committee, Ashok Kumar Yadav, and Manoj Chaudhary, PCF teacher of Bidhyasati Primary School, who have been staging a fast-unto-death from Wednesday putting forth various demands, has deteriorated.

According to the District Health Office, Mahottari, both teachers could not speak and their health condition is described as serious.

The office added the health condition of the teachers is deteriorating as they denied even to take medicines.

The teachers staged the hunger strike protesting discharge of 203 PCF teachers, out of 284 PCF teachers at different schools in the district, from their works, appointment of its relatives in teacher quota by the Teachers’ Forum.

Similarly, implementation of agreement signed between the District Education Office and PCF Teachers’ Struggle Committee, Mahottari, on August 20 and reinstatement of all PCF teachers are also the demands of the teachers.
