Khajura (Banke), Sept 3: Women health volunteers have been mobilized to find out various disease-infected people in five VDCs of flood-ravaged Banke district.
In this connection, the volunteers will keep vigil in disaster-hit villages for five days. Chief of District Public Health Office, Banke, Jeevan Kumar Malla informed that total 78 volunteers are deputed in the site at Fattepur, Holiya, Gangapur, Matehiya and Betahani of the district.
He said volunteers have been mobilized in other flood-affected VDCs as well. Regular health camps are being held in the affected area.
The mobilization was made to check fever, diarrhea, common cold, eye and skin infection that broke out in the VDCs. The volunteers will detect infected people reaching out to their homes in the affected area and sensitize locals to take preventive measures to prevent possible outbreak of infectious diseases in the area.
The death toll from different diseases in the flood-hit area has so far reached six. Out of them, two were found to have lost their life due to other diseases.
