Kathmandu, July 1, 2016: With monsoon becoming active since Thursday, the country received heavy rains throughout, today, the Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) said.

Moisture-laden winds arising from the Arabian Sea and the monsoon that originated in the Bay of Bengal moving along the southern parts of the Himalayas caused rains, the MFD said.

As a result, the rains will continue across the country throughout the day today and they will remain until the next few days, said senior meteorologist Sujan Subedi said.

Meanwhile, flights at the Tribhuvan International Airport have been affected due to the rains.

Some flights were redirected to elsewhere after they failed to land due to the rain, said TIA officials.
